Lichnos beach south of Parga |
The beautiful beach of Lichnos 3.5 kilometres south of Parga is my absolute favourite beach in the area. The long beach consists mainly of coarse sand that changes from shiny white to golden yellow. The perfect sand is soft and malleable and coarse enough to lie still, no flying sand in your eyes here.

At the end of the beach, a red limestone cliff plunges into the sea, forming a striking backdrop to the turquoise sea. A little further along the rocky coast are several smaller caves, one of which, Aphrodite's Cave (or Blue Cave), is large enough for smaller boats to enter. Excursion boats to Aphrodite's Cave depart from Parga.

Along the beach there are a handful of tavernas that at first glance smell like tourist traps. But appearances are deceiving, several of them are really good. I can highly recommend Restaurant Coral which serves good authentic Greek food in generous portions, the view over the beach is lovely and the staff is exemplary friendly.
Restaurant Coral is the best taverna at Lichnos beach.

The easiest way to get to Lichnos is by beach boat from Parga, or by your own vehicle. You can also hike to the beach through the beautiful olive grove that starts in Parga. The hike is easy and incredibly beautiful.

The very nice hike through the olive tree forest between Parga and Lichnos beach.
