Windy beach in Rhodes town |
As I write on the page about Elli beach, the beaches Elli and Windy are located on the northern tip of Rhodes. The beaches meet at a narrow isthmus where Rhodes town ends. To the left of the isthmus is Windy beach and to the right is Elli beach. Behind the cape is the aquarium.

Both Windy and Elli have their advantages, on Windy beach it's more or less always windy and when it's really hot it blows nicely. The traffic on the road above the beach disturbs to some extent, but the waves muffle most of the sound. An advantage of the high waves the sea becomes extremely blue.

Many sunbeds and parasols face the wind to provide protection.
It's not always windy on Windy beach, it can be this calm too. |
Above the beach, and in the back streets, there are lots of charter hotels, shops, restaurants, cafes and bars. It is in these neighborhoods that most tourists in Rhodes Town live. The advantage of living here is the proximity to the beach, and that the range is gigantic, you don't have to leave the area if you don't want to. Rhodes' famous bar street is also located here. But there are not the same features as in the past.
