Messakti beach in Ikaria |
Messakti beach begins almost where Gialiskari ends. The beach is one of the longest on Ikaria and one of the best, many think it is the island's best beach. The sand is fine-grained and golden. Perfect if you like sandy beaches. Sun beds and umbrellas are available for rent. Tavernas and canteens are also available.
Messakti beach. (It is not always high waves here.)
Two small "rivers" have their outflows at the beach and forms small freshwater lagoons. It is not unusual to see freshwater turtles in the lagoons. The turtles are pretty domesticated, if you sit down they tend to come and beg for food. |
