A day at home at Pension Sofi in Naxos town

Our long stay in Crete, and the long journey from Crete to Naxos, had left its mark. We felt that we needed to rest and take it easy. And take it easy - that's what we took this day. It started as usual with me going to buy fresh bread. I also bought some sweets. I don't remember the last time we ate sweets.

We spent the rest of the day at home in our room and on the balcony. We found a WiFi hotspot in one corner of the bed so we could both blog and work. Good, because it had been a while since we had access to the internet at home in our room.

After almost five months of travelling, we felt the need to take a footbath. We had been wearing the same Teva sandals pretty much every day, and it had left its mark. Teva is supposed to be odourless, but that's not true, at least not if you use them every day for a long time. Don't think that we brought a foot bath with us just to take a footbath during the trip, we're actually not that crazy. We had it with us to wash clothes in.

Most unusually, we ate lunch at home at Pension Sofi. We usually always have lunch at a taverna.

When it started to get dark, which it does early this time of year, we went down to the port esplanade and drank an ouzo each. When we went out, the wind was calm and just over 20 degrees. We went out dressed in fleece and windbreaker, but had to take them off so we were sitting in t-shirts. We could have left our jeans at home, if we had known. Shorts would have been enough. On the evening of October 31st!

Metaxi Mas was full this evening so we had to eat outside. But it worked out just fine.

Very few places were open and very few people on the move. After the ouzo, we walked around the port and admired the evening view of Portara. We had dinner at Metaxi Mas (which was packed!) again this evening, and it was just as delicious and pleasant as yesterday
