Last full day on Naxos. Sob!

So it was time for the last full day on Naxos for this trip. Our emotions are a bit up and a bit down. It feels completely okay to move on because we have had such a great time on Naxos, and it can hardly get any better. The trip continues and we with it. But first we have a whole day left on this wonderful island. We had to eat breakfast indoors because of the weather. The laundry still hadn't dried.

It was a day of farewells. Despite the rough weather, we wanted to say a final goodbye to our beloved Plaka beach, and maybe even take a last swim before we moved on. So we took the car and drove one last time to southwest of Naxos.

We drove to Agia Anna and planned to walk to Plaka. But we suspected it would start raining at any moment..

...so we drove to Plaka beach which looked like this on November 14th.

Plaka beach. Naxos. Kalispera.

We said goodbye to this wonderful beach, which we had been to so much during our trip.

Swimming was out of the question, but we were happy anyway. Bye Plaka!

Express Skopelitis in the port of Naxos.

When we got home to Chora we said goodbye to Express Skopelitis.

When we got back to the room, we started packing for the trip to Athens tomorrow morning. It felt terrible. Not packing (we are used to that) but that we had to leave Naxos. It suddenly dawned on us. We have had a fantastic time here, one of the best during our trip. If we can go here again during the off-season, we definitely will.

Buying a laptop while on holiday in Greece.

After we had almost completely packed we checked our emails one last time.

This last evening ended like almost every other evening during these three weeks: an ouzo each on the harbour esplanade and dinner at Metaxi Mas. Saying goodbye to Metaxi Mas was not fun at all. During our seventeen days on Naxos, we had dinner at Metaxi Max every evening except the first. That says a lot about what we think about this fantastic restaurant.

Last evening at Metaxi Mas. I try to look unaffected. It didn't work out very well.
