Hiking on Andros

Andros is an ideal hiking island that is visited by thousands of hiking enthusiasts every year. Andros offers everything from easy beginner routes to quite advanced hikes that are suitable for experienced hikers. In fact, Andros is one of the most popular islands in Greece for hikers. Thanks to the hard work of dedicated local volunteers from Andros Routes who have created a network of signposted hiking trails. They have made it possible to have over 20 marked hiking trails, which together cover a total of 160 kilometers.

One of the best hikes on Andros goes from the village of Stenies to Pithara Waterfalls.

Our favorite hike on Andros is the one that goes to Pithara Waterfalls.

If you are going hiking on Andros, I can recommend Anavasis map. Anavasi is a Greek map publisher specializing in hiking maps. Their hiking and cycling map of Andros at a scale of 1:27,000 was published in collaboration with the local hiking group Andros Routes, which is committed to opening, maintaining and marking the trails on Andros. The map contains tables with all the marked trails. On the map you will find many beautiful trails that cross the island from one end to the other. At the same time, it includes all the beaches, villages, churches and sights.

There are over 20 marked hiking trails on Andros, which together cover a total of 160 kilometers.

Many hikes go via Stenies, like this route which has the number 8 (on the right in the picture).
